God and writing

Imitate me, just as I also imitate Christ. (1 Cor 11:1)

My God is a writer. He works on a completely different medium to us as He writes on our hearts (2 Cor 3:3). But He is also the inspiration of the biblical writers (2 Tim 3:16) who wrote various parts of the Bible. And the Bible is the inspiration for Christians. It is our “Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth”.

We know God and Jesus, mainly through the written word – the Bible. There’s power in the Word because of what it can do (Heb 4:12). Inspirational words by people can spur us on, but they cannot speak to us. The Bible is different. The Bible speaks to people when they most need it. It is amazing. It brings life and encouragement when we most need it (Rom 10:17).

It guides and leads us (Ps 119:105). The Word is powerful and accomplishes what it was written to do (Is 55:11, Jer 1:12). The Word created everything and is Jesus Christ (John 1:1-5, 14).

And when the Bible tells us to imitate God, to me, there’s no better way to imitate God than to be a writer.
